What Does Your Car’s Color Say About You?

For starters, there is a strong possibility that your favorite car color gives away your gender.

A new report from iSeeCars.com reveals that men and women prefer different color cars.

Can you believe that men are more likely to search for red, orange, black, white, green and gray cars while woman opt for silver, brown, gold, beige, blue and yellow vehicles?

Men and Women Prefer Different Color Cars

According to the search and compare car website, these trends were exposed after studying search inquiries over a 12 month timespan. The site reports “hundreds of thousands of consumers” consult iSeeCars.com for information about new and used cars, but did not include the exact number of men and women who participated in this study.

Nevertheless, the statistics are compelling. Here is the list of male preferred vehicle colors and the likeliness of men searching for these cars over women:

MEN are 3 percent more likely to search for RED cars
MEN are 8 percent more likely to search for ORANGE cars
MEN are 6 percent more likely to search for BLACK cars
MEN are 0 percent more likely to search for WHITE cars
MEN are 8 percent more likely to search for GREEN cars
MEN are 0 percent more likely to search for GRAY cars

Women, on the other hand, seem to prefer completely different car colors.

WOMEN are 2 percent more likely to search for SILVER cars
WOMEN are 1 percent more likely to search for BROWN cars
WOMEN are 3 percent more likely to search for GOLD cars
WOMEN are 7 percent more likely to search for BEIGE cars
WOMEN are 6 percent more likely to search for BLUE cars
WOMEN are 2 percent more likely to search for YELLOW cars

Why Do Men and Women Prefer Different Car Colors?

iSeeCars.com has some hypotheses about why, according to this report, men and women prefer different color cars. For instance, red, black and orange are popular colors for sports cars. All the while, white is the most popular shade for pickup trucks.

Similarly, silver, brown, gold and beige are often seen on minivans, sedans and station wagons – if at all. In the report, iSeeCars.com states that “Brown and gold/beige are not common car colors – only making up about 4 percent of the 30 million used car listings.” And even though women prefer blue cars 3.6 percent more than men, the most popular blue car is a minivan.

Therefore, it appears men are looking for sports cars and pickup trucks while women search for dependable family vehicles.

Further research could be done on this subject, but for now, it is interesting to read what one search and compare car website found when designating searches by gender. More so, it brings up an age-old question: “what does your car say about you?”

Giovanni Bellini (c. 1430-1516) was an Italian Renaissance Artist who is considered to revolutionize Venetian painting with his sensuous and colorful style applied with slow drying paints. He is the best known painter from the Bellini family of painters. His early style can be described as Quattrocento, which incorporates classical art forms from Greek and Roman sculptors. His later works matured into a more progressive style and incorporated many instances of religious symbolism through natural elements. Selling your art at outdoor art fairs

Have you ever considered selling your artwork at an art fair? Outdoor art festivals are a popular way of uniting artists with potential collectors and even gallery owners. At the larger art festivals, attendance can reach 250,000 and higher, which means a lot of eyeballs will have the chance to view your art! If that wasn’t enough to convince you, keep in mind that there are visual artists who report 6-figure annual incomes from selling their art at street festivals around the US.

Before you start applying to art festivals, do your research to find out which art fairs are best for you. Some art fairs are well-known and highly-regarded, while others are smaller and don’t generate as much foot traffic. When researching which art fairs to apply for, find out the answers to the following questions:

How many people attend the art fair each year?
Will any cash prizes be given, and if so, how many prizes and for what amounts?
What is the booth fee?
Does the art festival expect to collect a percentage of your sales?
What is the location of the art fair? Similarly, how far will you have to drive? Will you have to stay in a hotel? What are the costs for this – and is it worth it, given the answers to the previous questions?
Are you allowed to sell prints and cards of your work, or only originals? (Not all art festivals allow artists to sell reproductions of their work, but if they do, it’s a great way to boost your income and also spread your artwork further afield.)

The answers to these questions will help you decide which art festivals are worth your time, and which ones you can skip.

All in all, selling your art at art festivals is an excellent way to take your art career into your own hands. You can make connections with other artists, network with gallery owners and reach out to the general public. Rather than wait for a gallery to take on your work, you can take your art out into the world!

A dinosaur on wheels… a Cadillac covered in Legos… a tie-dyed school bus… if you see all of these rolling towards you, it doesn’t mean you’re stuck in a surrealistic dream – it probably means you’re watching an Art Car Parade!

An art car is a vehicle that has been transformed through the magic of paint or found objects, and a healthy dose of creativity, into a mobile objet d’art. First originating during the hippie movement of the 60s, the art car phenomenon is still alive and well today. Annual Art Car Parades take place in cities such as Houston, Minneapolis and San Francisco, and also feature prominently in festivals such as Burning Man. Houston’s annual Art Car Parade draws nearly a quarter of a million attendees, testimony to the popularity of these wacky and wonderful automobiles.

“Mutant vehicles” are the more radically-transformed cousins of art cars (as shown above). Mutant vehicles refer to cars that barely resemble our common conception of what a car should look like, because they have been transformed into whimsical mobile creations, like giant red wagons, hot dogs, monsters and even cathedrals.

Artist and non-artists alike have taken to decorating their cars. Those who don’t consider themselves “traditional” artists embellish their cars by covering them entirely with bumper stickers, pennies, Astroturf, Legos, and Barbie Dolls. Fine artists can show off their painting skills by creating detailed and elaborate murals on their cars, usually using enamel or airbrush.

For artists, an art car is an excellent way to show off your art because it becomes a mobile gallery, turning heads on the highway and in parking lots. If you have an art car or decide to transform your car into one, make the most out of the free publicity by adding a bumper sticker with your website address, or by painting your name and website URL somewhere prominent.
